The Community Disaster
Preparedness Program is primarily intended to educate and
prepare residents to manage critical community details in the event our First
Responders are unavailable due to a catastrophic emergency. The Program falls under the jurisdiction of
the Pine Valley Fire Department in cooperation with the San Diego
County Office of Emergency Services.
The Program includes committees that encompass all
major sectors of the community. The
program is currently in Phase 1:
Training of Committee Co-Chairs and Recruitment.
The Community Disaster Preparedness Program relies
solely upon its members to effectively manage critical details during an
emergency. We are actively recruiting
residents from
Responsible for the evacuation, shelter, and
nourishment of domestic animals and livestock.
These folks haul livestock, operate emergency shelters, and provide food
and water to make certain that our critters are cared for during an emergency.
Responsible for emergency communications. They operate hand-held radios and scanners,
and initiate phone trees to relay information throughout the disaster team
network. They also utilize
pre-designated emergency channels to assure communications when all other means
are out of service.
Responsible for community outreach and recruitment
by word-of-mouth, written notification and computer. They are the public relations team who
familiarizes everyone with the Program.
Their primary function is to maintain community education, training and
involvement in disaster preparedness procedures.
Responsible for services and supplies of every
kind. They are the Program resource
people who provide everything from building materials, buses, fuel and
generators to shelters, bedding, temporary kitchens, and food and water. They ensure that services and supplies are
always at hand whenever they’re requested.
Responsible for the coordination of committee
activities, execution of PVFD directives, organizing and distributing data,
managing resources, and facilitating the smooth flow of information between
committees.
This is an equal opportunity program where age and
experience do not matter. The Pine
Valley Fire Department encourages folks from all walks of life to become
involved in your Community Disaster Preparedness Program. All training and equipment will be provided free
of cost so get on board by contacting us with your committee preference and
